Host a Table at Heritage Festival

Heritage Festival is Thursday, May 16th from 6-8:30pm at Cougar Ridge. This is an exceptional opportunity for students and families to learn about different cultures from around the world!

We are looking for families to sponsor a country/state/cultural heritage. We have poster boards already made for many countries, and often hosts will bring a cultural dish/snack/activity to share.  Check out this video for more information!  Some Ideas to Bring to the Tables:

  • Fill your table with items from your country: Traditional clothes, flags, artwork, books, stories, poems, and/or artifacts.
  • Display images or video of your country on a tablet.
  • Bring a game or activity of your country.
  • Bring traditional foods or snacks
  • Fashion Show - Wear Country customs
  • We will have a stage available for dance performances

We also have signups for volunteers needed in other areas as well.  Click here to sign up to host a table or volunteer!

Clean Out for Cougar Ridge

We are launching a new initiative with local business Small Threads!  If this is the time of year where you clean out your kids' closet and drawers, those clothes and shoes can be used to benefit Cougar Ridge! Our school will receive funds from all *clean and resaleable* clothes and shoes at the consignment store! Anything not sold will be donated to KidVantage. For clothes that are *stained or torn* Small Threads has a partnership with Ridwell, so those items will be recycled instead of ending up in the landfill! We will have two *separate* boxes in the office for ou to put your donated clothes and shoes. We will run this initiative for the entire school year so you can do this anytime! Thank you for supporting our school and helping to keep our planet a little greener!

        Cougar Ridge Green Team News!

The Cougar Ridge Green Team is proud to host Earth Spirit Week, April 22th-26th, in celebration of Earth Day.  Please join in the festivities, think green and learn ways we can make a difference for our planet.

  • Monday- Hand Me Down day. Be sure to wear clothes that have gotten a second life instead of going to the landfill. These might be from a sibling, a friend, or some great finds from a thrift shop.
  • Tuesday- Black Out day. Wear black and try to turn off lights in the classroom and at home.  Reduce your use of electronics and electricity.
  • Wednesday- Waste Free Day. Try to bring your lunch and snack in reusable containers to create as little waste as possible.
  • Thursday- White Out day. Wear white and try to use less paper products today. Can you use scratch paper or a white board instead?
  • Friday- Green Day. Wear green and try to do as many green practices as you can.

Art & Craft Supply Collection – In addition to a themed Earth Spirit Week, the Green Team is hosting an Art & Craft Supply Collection. This is for supplies you already have, even half used but still have life left, and are taking up valuable space in your home.  Items will be donated to Seattle Recreative thereby giving used and old art supplies a second life.  Visit here for more specifics on items we'll collect (please note, no paper).  We'll have bins throughout the school for your donations to be deposited Monday - Friday of Earth Spirit Week, April 22th-26th.  This is a great excuse for spring cleaning of your art and craft supplies!

Recycle!

The Cougar Ridge Green Team and PTSA are proud to offer two specialty item recycling bins!  One for markers, pens and pencils.  Our newest bin, which was purchased using funds from the Spirit Swap is for glue sticks and glue bottles.

Please make sure to only put the correct items in each box

Both bins are located by the front office.

Thank you for doing your part to help protect our planet!
